6 Romantic Things to Do in Asheville

Whether you are celebrating something special or you feel the need to escape the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, going on a romantic vacation with your sweetheart is always a great idea.

Renowned for its thrilling outdoor activities, arts and music scene, restaurants, breweries, and beyond, North Carolina’s gorgeous Asheville is a paradisiacal destination for couples looking to escape the daily routine. Read on to learn all about the most romantic things to do in this beautiful destination.

Spend Time In A Romantic Cabin

Asheville and the surrounding mountains are dotted with beautiful secluded cabins that are perfect for a romantic getaway. Find one with a hot tub with a view and share a glass of champaign together.

We recently stayed at Engadine Inn & Cabins located about 15 minutes west of Asheville. They have 6 hilltop cabins that overlook the Inn and have amazing views of the surrounding mountains. We stayed in the Cherokee Cabin which has a king-size bed, fully-equipped kitchen, living area with a wood-burning fireplace, and a jetted tub for two, and a back porch with a view.

As cabin guests, you have the option to join guests of the Inn for breakfast for an additional cost and based on availability.  Depending on our guest count, seating is sometimes offered at a “chef table” in the kitchen. This is no continental breakfast, but a two coarse meal that will start your day off right.

Explore the City on Foot

Asheville is a fantastic place for people who love exploring on foot. Small and very walkable, the city welcomes art aficionados, beer lovers, and all kinds of adventures with quirky coffee shops, art galleries, and many cool things to discover.

Put on your most comfortable shoes, grab your partner’s hand, and prepare yourselves for a memorable adventure. There are plenty of attractions that will impress you, but without any doubt, Biltmore Estate, known as America’s Castle, will have an impact on every visitor.

Built-in 1895, George Vanderbilt’s 250-room chateau is not only an astonishing wonder of architecture and opulence but also a place filled with exciting activities. Self-tour the grounds of the house, magnificent gardens, and the Antler Hill Village let the Winery and the Farm amaze you, and explore the hidden passageways and secret rooms throughout the property. After you enjoyed the tour and learned all about the estate’s history, don’t miss browsing the several on-site shops. There is no way you won’t find a great gift at the Antler Hill Outfitters, Wine Shop, or Bookbinder’s Shop.

Enjoy Romantic Hikes

If you’re an outdoorsy couple and walking around the city is not enough, Asheville is waiting for you with exhilarating hiking opportunities that promise to enhance your romantic escape. Located in western North Carolina’s the Blue Ridge Mountains, the city is recognized as one of the best destinations in the US for outdoor adventures.

Pack your hiking gear and head over to the Blue Ridge Mountains, where a remarkable number of hiking trails and places to explore will welcome you. Don’t forget to bring your camera, in case you want to capture the fascinating natural beauty of the mountainous landscapes.

Take a Scenic Drive

If you love nature, but hiking is not your cup of tea, you can always explore Asheville’s superb surroundings and see the breathtaking views of Western North Carolina from the car! There are plenty of scenic drives you and your loved one can enjoy, but most couples’ favorite is the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If, for instance, you plan your escapade during autumn, get ready for a drive to remember, with spectacular views full of scenic overlooks and jaw-dropping foliage. And the wonderful landscapes go on for miles. Also, if you believe love goes through the stomach, pack your picnic bag because there are many magnificent spots for an outdoor meal along the way.

Indulge in a Wine Tasting Session

Asheville is filled with amazing breweries, but if you can’t think of a better way to relax than with a glass of wine in your hand, there are a few renowned wineries in the city.

Combining wine with history might be one of the most romantic things to do. So, you can let your worries slip away and pamper yourselves with handcrafted wines at the Biltmore Estate Winery. Or you can head towards Plēb Urban Winery, a hip place also known for its variety of events, food trucks, and music gigs.

See the City from Above

One of the most romantic things you can do in Asheville is admiring the stunning city, imposing mountains, and vibrant green areas from above, during an unforgettable hot air balloon ride. There is no better way to begin a day filled with romance than with a sunrise flying experience that will enhance your escape with awe-inspiring views and the thrilling feel of flying away with your favorite person.

Asheville Balloon Company and Asheville Hot Air Balloons are two famous companies that offer top-rated hot air balloon rides to all love birds who visit Ashville and want to celebrate their love differently.

Spoil Yourselves with An Afternoon Massage

All couples’ escapes should include romantic activities, relaxation, and fun. The great thing about Asheville is that it offers the whole package. After a few days of exploring the city and its surroundings, all visitors should consider spoiling themselves with unwinding massages. Whether you choose the Spa at Biltmore Village for a perfect massage or you prefer a complete experience with outdoor hot tub soaks and spa packages at the Shoji Spa, we promise you will completely relax and leave with the feeling of wanting more.

But, to have the perfect trip, you don’t need another massage. You need a fun night out. And you can achieve that at a deluxe venue, the Pillar Rooftop Bar. Whether you want to amaze your taste buds with local beers or wine, delicious cocktails, or mouthwatering local eats, this is the place. Besides, your evening will be enhanced by the sensational view of the mountains surrounding Asheville, the relaxing sound of local musicians, and, of course, the presence of your significant other.
