Top Romantic Honeymoon Destinations in the USA

When you are trying to decide on a honeymoon destination, there are so many places to choose from around the world. If you are living in the USA, do not overlook the romantic getaways nearby!

5 Reasons to Spend Your Honeymoon in the USA

  • It saves you transportation time. You may not have the ability to take off work for your wedding and for a honeymoon. Honeymooning in the US will save you time getting to and from your chosen destination and make it less likely you will need time to recover from jet lag when you get there. Even if you want a honeymoon abroad you can always start with a mini-moon in the USA.
  • It can save you money. Paying for a wedding is already expensive and may leave you without much budget for your first trip as a married couple. You can save $100s on airfare by staying nearby
  • Domestic honeymoon destinations mean less worry. International locations require more attention to details like passports, currency exchanges, and safety that you will not have to worry about when you stay in the United States. No need to worry about an international driver’s license or insurance regulations when you rent a car.

TRAVEL TIPS

  • Find accommodation for your perfect honeymoon with Agoda
  • Your cheapest flight tickets are on WayAway
  • Make your trip more exciting with Viator tours
  • Insure your trip with VisitorsCoverage

So whether you are choosing a mini-moon getaway or have always dreamed of a honeymoon in the USA, here are a few of our top recommendations.

Beach Honeymoon Destinations

Miami, Florida

Miami spot for a honeymoon in the USA

Recommended by Luke from Back Street Nomad

Year-round sun, cocktails the size of your head, and beaches for days are just a few of the reasons Miami is perfect for a honeymoon. If you are after a relaxing honeymoon, you could happily park yourself on South Beach for a week and not think twice about it. But you’re the type that can’t sit still for longer than an hour then there is still a big city hiding behind Biscayne Bay, including our Cuban friends (and their cigars) just waiting to be explored.

If reading on the sand loses its shine, take a break by taking in a basketball game, hire some bikes, or going on a jet ski tour around the island. And of course, with so many bars lining the beautiful art deco precinct, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to keep well lubricated as well.

Miami Beach, also known as South Beach, is essentially where all the parties happen. Dine at high-end restaurants in a candlelight ambiance and enjoy the company of each other over a platter of delicious seafood. Take a walk on a white-sand beach bordered by clear, turquoise water and feel re-energized.

Try paddle-boarding over the calm waters of Key Biscayne and kayak through the seemingly deserted mangroves at Oleta River. Coral Castle is a must-visit if you want to look at something unique and get away from the city’s madness. All in all, Miami is an ideal retreat for couples.

New Orleans might have a reputation for having outrageous nightlife and crazy parties, but it also has a completely different side – charming, quiet, and romantic.

To spend honeymoon in New Orleans is to walk the narrow streets of French Quarter marveling at the fern plants on every balcony, to ride a streetcar into Garden District and get lost among historic mansions (some of which belong to celebrities), to eat mind-blowingly delicious food prepared by world-renowned chefs or street food that is equally good and so much more!

To make a fairy tale complete take a carriage ride through French Quarter or even a sunset gondola ride in City Park. Finish the day off with a cocktail at one of the many jazz clubs because what can be more romantic than listening to jazz in the city of its origin?

A Theme Park Lover’s Honeymoon

Orlando, Florida

Recommended by Gemma from Two Scots Abroad

Where do the big kids go to have fun? Orlando, Florida! Nothing says I’m crazy about you more than going loop da loop on the Incredible Hulk Coaster, taking the enchanting ride on the Hogwarts Express or sipping cocktails on iDrive. The energy of Orlando will keep your honeymoon alive and who knows, maybe the next time you return will be with the mini-me!

The theme parks in Orlando alone could fill up itineraries for weeks.  Some couples may spend their entire honeymoon in Disneyworld alone.  The firework show is amazing and you can enjoy time discovering the world in Epcot.

Just down the highway is Universal Studios where may 20 or 30-somethings will be amazed by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter that has been a part of their childhood through adult life.

Once you have ridden all the rollercoaster you can handle, take some time to go to a nearby beach.  Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach are both about an hour away from each other.

Orlando Honeymoon Accommodations

Four Seasons Resorts Orlando

If you have the money, the Four Seasons is our top recommendation for a honeymoon stays at Disney for many reasons.  The Four Seasons Luxe rooms feature marble bathrooms, in-mirror televisions and are the largest guest rooms by the square foot in Orlando.  Honeymooners will enjoy the simple detail of having do not disturb buttons at the side of the Four Seasons bed. Out the balcony, you will have a perfect view of the evening fireworks show   Here you will also find the only adult-only hotel at Disney.
